Proactively promoting training on safeguarding national security
12 July 2024
The Office of The Ombudsman spares no effort to promote training on national security so as to heighten staff’s awareness and sense of responsibility with respect to safeguarding national security. This June, we were honoured to have invited Mr Michael Cheuk, Under Secretary for Security, to come to our office and give a briefing to all our staff members of officer rank or above on the key points of the Hong Kong National Security Law and the Safeguarding National Security Ordinance. Mr Cheuk also answered on the spot all the relevant questions raised by the attendees, who actively participated and responded in the Q&A session.
Another briefing was arranged shortly afterwards for support staff so that they can also understand how safeguarding national security is relevant to their work and the important points to heed.
The Office will organise relevant training activities periodically to ensure that all staff members fully comprehend the importance of upholding national security and their responsibilities in this regard.
