Ombudsman meets with Secretary for Private Sector Integrity, Office of the Comptroller General, Brazil

As part of the Information Services Department’s Sponsored Visitors Programme, the Secretary for Private Sector Integrity of the Office of the Comptroller General of Brazil, Mr Marcelo Pontes Vianna, today (11 June) visited the Office of The Ombudsman, and exchanged views with the Ombudsman, Mr Jack Chan, and the Assistant Ombudsman, Ms Sally Kan.

 

At the meeting, Mr Chan outlined the Office’s main functions, three strategic focuses and achievements, while Ms Kan shared how the Office fulfils its supervisory role and delivers results through direct investigation operations and improvement recommendations. The two sides then held in-depth discussions on public administration supervision and complaint handling, exchanging practical experience.

 

Mr Chan also elaborated on the Office’s establishment of the Hong Kong International Ombudsman Academy, which aims to actively promote regional and international cooperation through training and exchanges. He noted that through engaging with ombudsman institutions from other regions, the Office could further advance the development of quality public administration. The meeting not only enhanced information and experience sharing between Hong Kong and Brazil in public administration supervision, but also strengthened bilateral ties and broadened prospects for future cooperation.
