Ombudsman holds “Youth Workshop on Positive Complaint Culture and Mediation” to support Strive and Rise Programme
2 April 2026
The Office of The Ombudsman, in collaboration with the Strive and Rise Programme led by the Chief Secretary for Administration, held the first “Youth Workshop on Positive Complaint Culture and Mediation” today (2 April). A total of over 40 young students participated in the Workshop. The Workshop enabled students to understand the role and functions of the Office.
The Assistant Ombudsman, Mr Kenny Tang, attended the Workshop to engage with students. He said, “As the watchdog of public administration in Hong Kong, the Office aspires to encourage more young people to actively participate in public affairs and understand the importance of good governance, and to promote a positive complaint culture. Working together, we will build a better, higher-quality society and contribute to the development of the motherland and Hong Kong.” The three strategic focuses championed by the Ombudsman, Mr Jack Chan, and the results achieved in the past year were highlighted. The Workshop also shared practical cases of complaint handling and discussed how the Office fosters a positive complaint culture and raises governance standards through promoting mediation and inter-departmental collaboration. The young students were actively engaged in the question-and-answer session and they deepened their understanding of public administration and complaint culture.
The Office is committed to promoting and deepening the work on youth affairs. In 2026/27, it will continue to organise similar activities, providing more opportunities for students to enhance their understanding of the Office’s role and functions in monitoring public administration.
