Ombudsman calls on colleagues and all voters to actively cast their votes

31 October 2025

The eighth Legislative Council General Election scheduled for 7 December (Sunday) is of immense significance. As the independent watchdog of public administration monitoring government departments and major public organisations, the Office of The Ombudsman fully supports the election. The Ombudsman, Mr Jack Chan, issued a letter today urging all colleagues to set an example and actively cast their votes. He also encouraged them to motivate their families and friends to fulfil their civic responsibility by participating in the election.

Mr Chan said, “Voting is a manifestation of our upholding of the Basic Law and our support to the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in policy implementation. It is a civic responsibility for which our colleagues should set an example by taking part in the polls. Casting a precious vote for a desired and suitable candidate is of relevance to every colleague and every citizen.”

The Office calls on all colleagues and voters to join the election on 7 December, creating the future together. Let us cast our solemn votes for the sake of upholding good governance, economic vibrancy and the well-being of our people.
