Ombudsman appoints two mediation experts as advisers to the Office
4 September 2024
The Ombudsman, Mr Jack Chan, has appointed two well-experienced international mediation experts as advisers to the Office. They are namely Dr Law Wai Hung Francis, President of the Hong Kong Mediation Centre; and Ms Siu Wing Yee Sylvia, Council Member and Co-founder of Hong Kong Mediation Centre. The appointments, for a term of three years, took effect on 1 September 2024.
The appointments tie in with the Office’s strategic focus on the proactive use of mediation. With their expertise, Dr Law and Ms Siu can tender professional advice on and share their experience in matters relating to mediation, thereby providing further support and impetus for the Office’s mediation work. The Ombudsman welcomed the two new advisers to his team and thanked their support for the work of his Office.
Besides experts in the newly-added field of mediation, the Office’s Panel of Advisers is also comprised of specialists in professions such as accountancy, architecture, engineering and surveying, legal, medical and nursing, as well as social work and rehabilitation services.
