To celebrate the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the Ombudsman, Mr Jack Chan, hosted a tea gathering today (30 September) with staff members of his Office to embrace the festive cheer. In a relaxed and cordial atmosphere, our colleagues enjoyed lively conversation and extended best wishes for the future development of the motherland and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (“HKSAR”).

At the gathering, Ombudsman Chan shared reflections on his recent visit to Shanghai, highlighting Shanghai’s impressive modernisation and public service innovations, which served as valuable references for the Office. He said, “I hope that our colleagues have broadened their horizons and learnt actively through national studies, and will turn the insights gained from visits into tangible results in their work. As this year marks the beginning of the National 15th Five‑Year Plan, the Office must pursue excellence by serving the public with greater efficiency and professionalism, strengthening supervision of public administration, and supporting the enhancement of governance in the HKSAR. On the occasion of the 77th National Day, we wish our beloved motherland and our fellow countrymen prosperity and peace, and the HKSAR stability and thriving development.”
