Ombudsman Academy visited CUHK-Shenzhen to deliver keynote lecture
13 March 2026
The Hong Kong International Ombudsman Academy (“HKIOA”) of the Office of The Ombudsman recently (11 March) delivered the first keynote lecture across the border. Invited by the Division of Civil Education, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, two Chief Investigation Officers of the Office served as guest speakers at a serial lecture under the course “Society and Public Policy in Contemporary China”, briefing young university students on the Office’s functions and powers. The three strategic focuses championed by the Ombudsman, Mr Jack Chan, and the results obtained in the past year were highlighted. The lecture also shared practical cases of complaint handling and discussed how the Office fosters a positive complaint culture and raises governance standards through promoting mediation and inter-departmental collaboration.
The lecture was well received and attended by nearly 100 undergraduate and postgraduate students. Apart from actively engaging in the question-and-answer session, they also interacted with HKIOA representatives to deepen their understanding of Hong Kong’s public administration and complaint culture. It was a fruitful event fully demonstrating the vibrant connection between Hong Kong and the Mainland.
