The Office of The Ombudsman’s inaugural summer internship programme has concluded, with five interns successfully completing a nearly two-month internship. The Office recently held a closing ceremony, with the presence of the Ombudsman, Mr Jack Chan, three Assistant Ombudsmen and the interns’ mentors, to reflect on the interns’ achievements and key takeaways from working in different divisions.

During the internship, the five interns were assigned to different divisions and engaged in the Office’s various work and activities, including hosting a workshop jointly organised by the Office and the Strive and Rise Programme, joining the engagement activity with advisers, participating in various stages of direct investigation operations and conducting site inspections. They all remarked that the internship was highly rewarding, as it deepened their understanding of the Office’s functions and public administration, nurtured their passion for public affairs, and left them with an enriching and memorable experience.

At the closing ceremony, the Ombudsman presented an internship certificate to each intern in recognition of their dedication and commendable performance. He encouraged them to sustain their passion for serving the community, remain actively engaged in public affairs, carry forward the mission of the Office and promote a positive complaint culture, thereby contributing to good governance in Hong Kong.
