The Hong Kong International Ombudsman Academy (“HKIOA”) today (4 August) received a delegation of Shenzhen Training Programme “Incorruptible Governance in Shenzhen and Hong Kong”, maintaining close exchanges between the two regions regarding the supervision of public administration.  The delegation comprised 20 officials from the Shenzhen Municipal Commission for Discipline Inspection, the Shenzhen Municipal Commission of Supervision and relevant departments.  The Training Programme has organised a visit to the Office of The Ombudsman for two consecutive years.

The Assistant Ombudsman, Ms Carmen Yu, hosted an exchange workshop to brief the delegates on the Office’s functions.  Through case studies, she shared hands-on experiences in handling complaints and using mediation, and elaborated on how recommendations are made following direct investigation operations to rectify deficiencies in public administration.  She also outlined how the Office established the HKIOA through flexible allocation of internal resources.  The HKIOA is dedicated to promoting regional and international liaison and cooperation, as well as fostering a positive complaint culture and the concept of maladministration prevention. The delegates actively participated in the question-and-answer and discussion session, during which both parties exchanged views and experiences on the supervisory mechanisms in the two regions.
