Ombudsman engages staff in an exchange on reflections from their proactive participation in national studies course
21 October 2025
A delegation of ten staff members visited Hangzhou from 12 to 17 October to attend a national studies course coordinated by the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and organised by the Zhejiang Institute of Administration. The course aimed to deepen participants’ understanding of our country’s development strategies, construction of rule of law as well as history and culture, while fostering multi-level exchanges and learning.
The Ombudsman, Mr Jack Chan, today (21 October) met with the participating staff members to hear their views on their learning outcomes and reflections, and to share his own insights. Mr Chan encouraged staff to apply what they have learned and diligently fulfil their responsibilities in safeguarding national security, with a view to enhancing the efficacy of governance and promoting Hong Kong’s integration into national development. These efforts, he noted, would ultimately help foster greater social harmony and stability, and improve the well-being of society.
Participants also shared their observations and experiences from the course, noting its substantive content and the valuable insights gained. They acquired a macro-level understanding of our country’s developmental trajectory and studied President Xi Jinping’s thoughts on the rule of law in depth. The course featured a blend of thematic lectures and on-site teaching, covering a wide range of topics including economy, technology, rule of law and social governance. This comprehensive approach significantly deepened participants’ understanding of national affairs and policy frameworks.
