Ombudsman joined Board of Directors of International Ombudsman Institute

12 June 2025

The Ombudsman, Mr Jack Chan, was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Australasian and Pacific Region of the International Ombudsman Institute (“IOI”) and became a Board Member of the Institute in May 2025.

Ombudsman Chan is also the Chairman of the IOI’s Standing By-laws Committee and member of the UN and International Cooperation Working Group. He will continue to take an active role to promoting international ombudsman affairs and strengthen ties with international counterparts and facilitate experience exchange and knowledge sharing, so as to maintain Hong Kong’s vital role as a global connector.

The IOI, established in 1978, is the only global organisation for the cooperation of more than 200 independent Ombudsman institutions from over 100 countries and regions worldwide. It is organised in six regional chapters, namely Africa, Asia, Australasia and Pacific, Europe, the Caribbean and Latin America, and North America.
