The Ombudsman tests positive for COVID-19

26 October 2022

The Office of The Ombudsman today (26 October) said that The Ombudsman, Ms Winnie Chiu, had tested preliminarily positive for COVID-19 through a rapid antigen test.

Ms Chiu is undergoing isolation in accordance with the guidelines of the Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health.  She was on duty trips to New Zealand and Azerbaijan in the last 14 days.  Upon return to Hong Kong, she followed the inbound quarantine arrangement of the CHP.  Her last working day in the office was 24 October.  She wore masks and followed relevant disease prevention measures at work.

The Office of The Ombudsman will conduct thorough cleaning and disinfection operations at the office concerned and arrange for relevant staff members to undergo COVID-19 testing.
